AP Art and Design
♦ Course Description
AP Art and Design is a college-level art program backed by The College Board® that prepares students wanting to submit a college-level quality art portfolio to art colleges or regular universities, or even to embellish your high school resume as you apply to regular colleges. We have been teaching AP Art and Design for over seven years now, so we are extremely experienced in teaching this course.
There are three different portfolio types:
- AP 2-D Art and Design: Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration, Digital Art, etc.
- AP Drawing: Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Printmaking, etc.
- AP 3-D Art and Design: Sculpture, 3D Printing, etc.
Within each portfolio, there are two sections:
- Sustained Investigation: 15 works, some may be supplemental sketches or details of a closely connected theme. Also included is a 1200-character written inquiry statement, as well as a short statement about each work’s process, and materials and size.• Selected Works: 5 actual works selected from the sustained investigation that represent your top five works, along with a short statement for each on the idea, materials and size, and the process.
