David Bowers – Concentration
What is the central idea of your concentration?
The central idea of my concentration is creating strong design compositions with a focus on rhythm and repetition. The theme centers around digitally manipulating and composing photographs I took of my sister, nature, and architectural structures. There was a definite focus on nature, religion, and self-discovery.
How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples. When referencing specific images, please indicate the image number.
Since my concentration is centered on my sister, it empowered me to be creative and unique. I used expressive colors to portray emotions and spontaneity. While self-discovery and nature are my themes, I also incorporated religion as a part of my growth (#2 and #9). Dance, something my sister has been involved in, is also a contributing factor as in #5 and #8. I used rhythm and repetition to show this. These two principles I used throughout my concentration, as in #10 and #11.
