What is the central idea of your concentration?

How can the whimsical and surreal experiences of childhood inform an exploration of the absurdity of growing up? I created a series of vibrant, dreamlike illustrations, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, capturing a butterfly girl's narrative of being caught between childhood and adulthood. Each piece evokes a sense of fear—fear of change, letting go, and the unknown. Through bright colors and symbolism, I convey the bittersweet tension of clinging to childlike imagination while confronting the responsibilities of maturity, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty and chaos of growing up with curiosity, playfulness, and a sense of transformation.

How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea?

Influenced by surrealism, I created a sequential story in a cartoon-like style. I used both digital and traditional drawing tools to experiment with texture, color, and media. I alternate techniques, sometimes rendering the space (1,2,3) and at other times employing the simplicity of the cartoon-like style, (4,5) particularly during key moments. The objects in my work, which float away, represent different memories, some of which are my own, while others symbolize childhood in general.

I also experimented with time, representing the idea through the objects themselves and their order within the pieces. A ladder serves as a metaphor for escape and exit (1,2,3) and a consistent purple, warm tone unifies each piece, contributing to the story's whimsical mood.
